I'm Gayle Larson and I started Dancing Raven Design to share my enthusiasm for growing food with other home gardeners. It's not something that came naturally--my mother always had a beautiful garden while I was growing up, so of course I was completely uninterested...
In 1999, my husband and I moved into a house on the Kitsap Peninsula with a yard that just cried out for help. I spent the first year reading everything I could find on gardening in the Pacific Northwest. Once we broke ground and dug up that first section of lawn, I was hooked!
This fascination with plants took me to Edmonds Community College and a degree in Landscape Design. While working for a landscaping company, I passed the Washington State Nursery & Landscape Association's Certified Professional Horticulturist exam. But, growing vegetables and small fruits has been my not-so-guilty obsession since I started, so in 2006 I decided to focus exclusively on helping other folks learn to do it, too.
